It won't rewrite your understanding of Scotch, but it will remind you that great whisky doesn't need to shout.

Pour this neat in a Glencairn and give it five minutes to open up. If you find it a touch tight at first — which NAS Lowland malts occasionally can be — a few drops of cool water will coax out the softer, sweeter notes. This would also make a very respectable Highball with quality soda water if you're after something longer on a warm afternoon, though I'd try it neat first to understand the spirit on its own terms.
