/ Distillery Bottling - Rampur Distillery was the original name for Radico Khaitan, India's fourth largest spirits company. It has been making whisky for more than half a century and this Rampur Select bottling is its flagship release, matured in ex-bourbon casks. This has imparted a creamy texture to the spirit with notes of vanilla, apricot and apple on the palate.
The Verdict
I have scored this 7.6/10. It is a competent single malt that delivers the core qualities one expects from the style at a reasonable price point. A reliable choice for the whisky cabinet.
Best Served
Neat, at room temperature, in a Glencairn glass. If you wish to open it up, add a few drops of water — no more. This is a whisky that speaks for itself when given the space to do so.
