I have been looking forward to getting my hands on Chicken Cock Island Rooster Rum Barrel Rye. Bottled at 47.5% ABV) and priced at $199/750mL, it promises genuine character.
Palate
The whiskey is a delicious blend of complex flavors, including sweet guava and ginger, with a little funk on the outside of the tongue and a smooth coffee note finish. This is an easy sipper, its sweet and flavorful, and comes through with tropical cocktail vibes before adding any mixers. While the whiskey is on the expensive side, it is one that could impress at a party.
Finish
Mash bill is 95% rye and 5% malted barley. 95 Proof (47.5% ABV). SRP $199/750mL. At least four years old. Finished for at least 6 months in Caribbean rum cask.
