Tasting Notes

Nose

There is a hint of smoky coconut, with a touch of tropical fruit tones.

Palate

The first thing that seems to hit the tongue is a nice mint or herbal tea taste. There is also a lovely hint of oak and what I would describe as a oak sap flavor.

Finish

Comments: Latest On The Whiskey Wash 108 proof (54% ABV). Mashbill mixes: (95% rye, 5% malted barley), 95% rye, 5% malted barley), and (52% rye, 43% corn, 5% malted barley)

There is a lot to like about Pursuit United Oak Collection Blended Straight Rye Whiskey on paper. At 54% ABV) and $74.99. This rye whiskey has a nice medium red color, let us see if it lives up to expectations.

108 proof (54% ABV). Mashbill mixes: (95% rye, 5% malted barley), 95% rye, 5% malted barley), and (52% rye, 43% corn, 5% malted barley). Finished in Sherry French Revere Oak. 750ml bottle. MSRP $74.99. The Pursuit United Oak Collection Blended Straight Rye Whiskey, just like it’s fellow Oak collection bourbon, has a very unique flavor profile. This is definitely not your ‘normal’ or average rey whiskey. Once again, there does seem to be a lot going on in this flavor profile. While a solid product, it may be a good choice to use as a mixer in a cocktail that would help bring out the different flavors, or to compliment similar flavor profiles.

The Bottom Line

Pursuit United Oak Collection Blended Straight Rye Whiskey is fine — not bad, not great, just fine. At $74.99. This rye whiskey has a nice medium red color, I think there are better options in this range if you are willing to look around.
