Tasting Notes

Nose

Warm sense of alcohol comes off the glass, followed by dry peanut butter. There are some toasted notes as the glass warms in your hand. Alcohol is well muted but is present.

Palate

Bitter and dry in the mouth. It opens to roasted peanuts with an alcohol backend. The finish is cloying to the mouth and delivers bitter notes of alcohol before releasing creamy peanut butter to end. The finish is watery and doesn’t really hold for very long. Successive sips revealed some seasoned wood and light smoke, but those notes were very soft.

Finish

Comments: Latest On The Whiskey Wash ged for a minimum of 7 years in new charred white oak; single barrel “Candy Corn”; 100 proof/ABV 50%. Warm sense of alcohol comes off the glass, followed by dry peanut butter

Saint Cloud Single Barrel 100 Proof at 100 proof — the question is whether it delivers on its promise. I sat down with a pour to find out.

Finish

The cork and bottle are stunning! The cork has a heft to it which you’d expect. However, the whiskey in the glass was unfortunately not complex and really provided a single note at a time. Overall, the whiskey provided little appetite for my curiosity. I found the peanut butter funk to be interesting but nothing really accompanied it. Overall, it is a very cool bottle and has a lot of opportunity to grow into a richer and more complex whiskey.

The Bottom Line

Saint Cloud Single Barrel 100 Proof is fine — not bad, not great, just fine. if you are willing to look around.
