I have been looking forward to getting my hands on Still Austin Cask Strength Rye Whiskey. Bottled at 58% ABV (116 Proof) and priced at $65/750 mL, it promises genuine character.
Nose
Elegant and rich aromas of crystalized ginger and cherry almond pastry, some earthy, grassy elements emerge after a few minutes.
Palate
I was so impressed by this rich and complex Rye! In addition to enjoying a grain-to-glass experience, the whiskey is effortlessly sippable with an effervescent mouthfeel. Not too sweet, perfectly balanced, and absolutely award worthy.
Finish
Oooh yum. I was thrilled at the first taste, met with peach and ginger notes, complemented by elements of citrus, but more like lemonade, summery and young, with baking spices on the medium finish. Editor’s Note: This whiskey was either bought as a sample by Whiskeyful or provided to us as a review sample by the party behind it. The Bottom Line
Still Austin Cask Strength Rye Whiskey is outstanding — one of those bottles that reminds you why you fell in love with whiskey in the first place. If you see it at $65/750 mL, do not hesitate. This one earns a permanent spot on the shelf.
