Nose
Peaty smoke hits the nose first, followed by flavor notes of lemon scented wood polish, savory cedar smoke, and hints of vanilla clove.
Palate
The palate offers spicy, smoky notes of sea salt, a savory hint of Slim Jims, damp bonfire logs, and black pepper notes. While most Islay whiskies tend to have a strong peaty character that’s, for the most part, an acquired taste, this is definitely one of the more approachable ones I’ve tasted so far. Rich in savory smokiness, it’s nicely balanced with a smooth, oily texture that pleasantly coats the tongue ending in a medium to long finish. This is a satisfying Islay whisky that walks a comfortable line between being a weeknight dram or sharing with your tried and true fellow Scotch enthusiasts on a special occasion.
