Ten years of maturation shows real craft here. Yes it's £97 but I think it's worth it for something this well made and this different from the usual suspects.

Poured this for my tasting group and nobody guessed it was German. Lovely nose of pear and light spice, and it opens up beautifully with a few drops of water. The finish is clean and medium-length with a hint of toasted oak. At 43% ABV it's sessionable without being thin.

Nice enough dram with some orchard fruit and vanilla coming through, but at nearly a hundred quid I expected a bit more complexity for a 10 year old. It's smooth and easy drinking, sure, but I've had Scottish single malts at half the price that gave me more to think about. Not bad by any means, just hard to justify the premium.
