24 reviewsNice enough whisky with some orchard fruit and a hint of spice, but at nearly a hundred quid I expected a bit more complexity for a blended malt. The finish is medium and pleasant. Good for what it is, just wouldn't rush to rebuy at this price.

13 March 2026Picked this up out of curiosity — a 1980s bottling of a 12-year-old blended malt at 43% is a proper time capsule. There's honey on the nose with a gentle peat smoke underneath that you just don't get in modern blends. Really enjoyable neat after dinner.

27 February 2026Interesting as a bit of whisky history but I found it a touch one-dimensional compared to what I normally drink. Light heather and some cereal notes, perfectly drinkable neat, but the flavour profile doesn't develop much in the glass. Wouldn't pay full price again.

24 February 2026My dad used to drink blended malts like this back in the day so I grabbed it partly for sentimental reasons. It's well-made stuff with a gentle smokiness and some sweetness on the palate. Not the most complex whisky I own but it's one I keep reaching for on a quiet evening.

28 January 2026On the nose I get malt biscuits and a little toffee. Palate is smooth with some citrus peel and light oak. It's a nice dram on the rocks but I struggle to justify £100 when there are single malts at that price point doing more interesting things.

7 January 2026Wasn't expecting much from a blended malt but this Glenleven is genuinely good. Warm and honeyed with a dry finish that keeps you coming back for another sip. The 12 years of age really shows — there's a maturity here you don't always get with blends.

29 November 2025Added a few drops of water and this really opened up — got loads of dried apricot and vanilla that I missed when I tried it neat first. The Highland character comes through nicely at 43%. My wife actually preferred it to the Johnnie Walker Green we had going, which says something.
