That said, the quality is undeniable — classic Highland Park with that signature balance of smoke and sweetness, plus an old-school waxy texture you don't get from modern bottlings. Bottled at 40% which feels a touch low for a whisky of this pedigree.

Distilled in 1977 and left to mature for 21 years — you can taste every one of them. Rich heather honey on the nose, gentle peat smoke, and dried fruits that just keep unfolding. I sipped this neat at a tasting event and genuinely didn't want to put the glass down.
