Picked this up for around £95 and I'm a bit torn. The whisky itself is solid — smooth with notes of vanilla, white pepper, and a touch of tropical fruit that I really enjoyed. But at that price point I keep comparing it to single malts I could get for less. Worth trying, just maybe not as a regular purchase.

I'm a big fan of what Ichiro's Malt puts out and this double distilleries expression doesn't disappoint. Beautiful balance of malt sweetness, orchard fruits, and just a hint of smoke lingering in the finish. The 46.5% ABV is spot on — I had it neat and then with a few drops of water and both ways were excellent. One of my favourite Japanese whiskies under £100.

There's a real elegance to it — soft fruit, a little floral quality on the nose, and the palate has this lovely biscuity maltiness with a wisp of smoke. Had it on the rocks on a warm evening and it was perfect. The 46.5% holds up well with ice too.

It's a nice dram, don't get me wrong. Clean and malty with some apple and light toffee notes. The finish is a bit short for my taste though — it kind of fades before it gets really interesting. I tend to prefer something with a bit more depth at this price range, but I'd happily have another glass if someone poured one.
