I picked this up from The Whisky Exchange on a whim and it's a solid dram. You get barbecue-like char notes mixed with vanilla and brown sugar, which is fun. At £100 though, I'd want a bit more depth on the finish — it fades quicker than I'd like for the price.

The hickory wood finish really comes through here — there's a lovely sweet smokiness on the nose that I wasn't expecting from an Irish pot still. At 58.3% it's a bruiser neat, but a few drops of water opens up toffee and dried fruit. Genuinely unique stuff from Method and Madness.

Method and Madness keep swinging and this one connects. The hickory finish gives it this incredible toasted marshmallow and hickory-smoked bacon thing on the palate. I drink it neat and just let that cask strength heat do its work. Already looking for a backup bottle.

The hickory finish gives this a proper outdoorsy, campfire quality that I absolutely love. There's charred wood and dark honey on the nose, then roasted nuts and spice on the palate. Powerful at 58.3% but it carries it well. My wife even liked it and she normally sticks to gin.

Don't get me wrong, this is a perfectly decent whisky. But for a cask strength exclusive at a hundred quid, I wanted the hickory wood to really stamp its personality on it. Instead it's fairly subtle — pleasant vanilla and light smoke but nothing that screams special. Fine neat, just not remarkable.
