I remember when you could get Redbreast CS for under seventy quid. At nearly £93 it's still a quality dram — big sherry notes, orange peel, marzipan — but the value proposition isn't what it used to be. I drink it neat on special occasions only now.

At 57.5% straight from the bottle it's a bit of a furnace on the palate, but add a few drops of water and it opens right up — dried fruit, honey, a hint of green apple. Solid pot still character though not quite the revelation some make it out to be.

At cask strength this thing is a beast in the best way. Neat, you get waves of Christmas cake, toasted oak, and a lovely sherry sweetness that lingers forever. I'd happily pay the £93 again — it drinks like something twice the price.

I keep coming back to this one. The richness you get from the pot still distillation combined with that cask strength kick is just unreal. Tropical fruit, baking spices, dark chocolate on the finish. If you like your whiskey with some muscle, this is the one.

I was a Scotch-only drinker until someone poured me this at a tasting. The combination of creamy pot still texture with that full cask strength punch completely won me over. Loads of dried fruit and warm spice on the nose, and the finish just goes on and on.
