15 reviewsI grabbed this on a whim and I'm glad I did. Sweet dried fruit on the nose with some nutty malt underneath, and the Madeira influence gives it a lovely winey warmth on the finish. At just under a hundred quid for a 15-year-old it feels about right for what you're getting.

16 March 2026The Madeira finish on this is gorgeous — dark cherry, raisin, and a hint of orange peel that lingers. At 46% it's got enough punch to hold up neat without being aggressive. Fifteen years has done this one a lot of favours. Probably the best Tomintoul I've tried.

30 January 2026This has become my go-to pour after a meal. The Madeira finish brings out these rich plum and dark chocolate notes that pair brilliantly with a bit of cheese. I usually drink Speysides with a few drops of water but this one at 46% is spot on as-is.

20 January 2026People sleep on Tomintoul and it's criminal. This 15-year-old with the Madeira finish is genuinely excellent — big sherry-like sweetness, baked fruit, warm spice, and a long sticky finish. I've had bottles at twice the price that weren't half as enjoyable. Bought a second one to stash away.

18 October 2025Pleasant whisky, don't get me wrong. The Madeira cask adds some interesting berry and toffee notes, and it's smooth enough at 46%. But for £100 I expected a bit more complexity — the mid-palate feels a touch thin and the finish drops off quicker than I'd like. I keep reaching for it though, so maybe that says something.
