I have been looking forward to getting my hands on Eight Settlers Ragtown American Whiskey. Bottled at 45% ABV; aged minimum 3 years; 750mL Few, scattere, it promises genuine character.
Nose
I was very surprised by this. Considering the young age and lack of distinguishing mash bill, I didnt really have high hopes. I was neither right nor wrong. The nose on this whiskey is one of the most delicious and bizarre Ive ever encountered. Fruity, light, bright, it didnt really bring a base of cereal grains to mind, it was almost more like a wine. The spirit on the palate had much less of an impact, being a little too light on flavor – though the flavors that came through were good.rnrnIll be very, very interested in future releases of this expression, and to see if any differing factors change the output – more time in barrel, different blends, possibly a home distillation.

The Bottom Line
Eight Settlers Ragtown American Whiskey is a perfectly respectable whiskey that does what it sets out to do. — it will not blow your mind, but it will not disappoint you either. A reliable choice.
