I have been looking forward to getting my hands on George Dickel Bottled in Bond Fall 2008. Bottled at 100 proof and priced at $45, it promises 13 years of maturation and genuine character.
Nose
Rich amber color, darker towards the center with a medium body. Cherry cola with a background of woody aromas.
Palate
Classic bourbon notes on the sweeter side of the spectrum. Cherry, vanilla, and a dash of black pepper for good measure with strongly represented caramelized, pecan pie sugar that outlasts the rest on the palate. Simultaneously excellent and unpretentious, at the suggested retail price of $45 this venerably aged bottle is a no brainer. Pick this up if you see it at your favorite liquor store and if they dont carry it ask them why not. This is a Tim Duncan of a whiskey– so fundamentally sound itll blow your mind. Its a phenomenal sipping whiskey and the balanced, well defined, flavors make it exactly the sort of thing to serve to guests or the perfect backbone for classic cocktails.

The Bottom Line
