7.6/10Glen Moray's 2014 Peated Tequila Finish is a cask strength Speyside that takes a genuine risk — combining peat smoke with ex-tequila cask maturation — and pulls it off with real substance behind the novelty.

12 reviewsThese Warehouse 1 releases from Glen Moray are consistently good and this peated tequila finish might be my favourite so far. There's a lovely balance between the smoky cereals and a kind of peppery sweetness from the tequila barrel. At 58.5% ABV it's a proper sipper — I add a splash of water and just let it sit.

12 March 2026Picked this up at a tasting event and it's definitely a conversation starter. The tequila cask gives it this slightly tropical, almost lime-zest note underneath the peat which I wasn't expecting from Glen Moray. I drink it neat and it holds up fine at cask strength. Wouldn't rebuy at that price but glad I tried it.

11 March 2026I was skeptical about a peated tequila finish but this is genuinely interesting. The smoke and agave sweetness play off each other really well, and at 58.5% it's got serious punch — a few drops of water opens it right up. Not cheap at £93 but for a cask strength single cask release I think it's fair.

6 December 2025I wanted more tequila influence honestly. The peat is the star here and the finish feels more like a subtle background note than a real game-changer. Still a solid dram and well made, but for £93 I'd probably reach for a sherried Speyside instead. Worth trying before you commit to a bottle.
