8.6/10A 23-year-old single cask Speyside from the 1980 vintage, bottled at a confident 46% ABV. Cask #11064 is a serious collector's whisky that carries its age with composure — not cheap at £900, but genuinely worth the investment for those who understand what single cask maturation delivers.

6 reviewsI opened this for my 50th birthday and it did not disappoint. Rich sherry cask influence with dried fruits, dark chocolate, and a hint of old leather. At 46% it's got enough punch to carry the flavours without being harsh. Yes it's £900 but for a 23 year old single cask from 1980, I've seen far worse value.

25 March 2026Nose is all Christmas cake and stewed plums, which I suppose fits the Christmas Malt branding. On the palate there's a lovely mix of toffee, oak spice, and something almost like fig jam. I drink it neat at room temperature and it rewards patience — let it sit in the glass for 20 minutes and it really opens up.

6 February 2026Look, it's a gorgeous dram. Smooth, sherried, complex with notes of walnut and dried apricot. But at £900 I keep comparing it to bottles I've loved at a third of the price. The 46% ABV is a nice touch — no chill filtration vibes — but I expected something more transcendent for the money.
