8.2/10A rare 33-year-old single cask Speyside from the under-appreciated Glentauchers distillery, bottled at natural strength. Cask 5218 from the Lost In Time Series is a serious collector's dram that rewards patience and delivers quiet, confident depth.

12 reviewsLook, this is a very nice dram. Neat, it gives you toffee, dried fig, and gentle spice with a long warm finish. But I've had cask strength Speysides at half the age that gave me just as much enjoyment for a fraction of the cost. The 33 years adds refinement for sure, but diminishing returns hit hard at this price bracket.

29 November 2025Poured this neat and just let it sit for ten minutes before nosing — immediately got old polished wood, candied orange peel, and something almost floral underneath. The palate is silky with dark chocolate and dried stone fruit. At cask strength it holds up without water but a drop or two really lets the complexity shine through. One of the better Lost In Time releases I've tried.

22 November 2025Had a dram of this at a tasting event and it's exactly what you'd hope for from a well-aged Speyside single malt. Rich sherry-influenced nose with stewed fruits and a hint of tobacco. I added a few drops of water and it opened up beautifully — vanilla and beeswax came forward. Lovely whisky, though I'd want to try before committing at that price point.

12 November 2025I split a bottle with two friends and we sat with this for an entire evening. At 33 years old the oak influence is massive but never overpowering — dried apricot, old leather, and this gorgeous waxy honey note that just lingers. The 51.9% ABV gives it real presence without any burn. Not something I'd buy solo at £970 but as a shared experience it was genuinely memorable.
