Tasting Notes

Nose

Predominant leather and marionberry smells overlay baking spices and stone fruits.

Palate

Cream and caramel hit the plate but back off, quickly replaced by black tea and leather. Some light violet floral notes dance around while blackberry, cinnamon and black pepper fill the majority of the experience. The berry fruit lushly decorates the end of the palate, while the finish is black cherry marmalade and oak.

Finish

Comments: Latest On The Whiskey Wash Blend of 7 to 16 yr bourbon. Finished in Oloroso Sherry casks

Finish

Blend of 7 to 16 yr bourbon. Finished in Oloroso Sherry casks. 98.6 proof (49.3 ABV). $129.99/750ml. An exquisitely smooth whiskey, the spirit does not at all taste like 98.6 proof, which must be the result of the 16 and 12 year bourbons that are part of the blend. Great as a gift or a centerpiece to your burgeoning whiskey collection, it executes the concept of a finished bourbon well, adding a nice suggestion of dark fruit to a spirit known instead for wood and caramel notes.

Verdict

Blood Oath Pact 9 Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey delivers a thoroughly accomplished whiskey that justifies its $129.99 price point. It is well-crafted, balanced, and worthy of a place in any considered collection.
